Framed Biplane Wall Art
At the dawn of air transportation, manufacturers were not sure whether a single wing would be better than two and biplanes were quite popular in the beginning. Those who check out the framed biplane prints available at FramedArt.com will discover that the first aircraft created by the Wright brothers had two weeks.
The structural advantages were initially considered to be more important than the fact that it generated more drag but as technology made giant leaps forward, biplanes were rendered useless.
Most of the framed biplane prints depict flying machines that were constructed in the first two decades of the 20th century, some of them available in black and white. The tandem wing design is less popular today, although there are some planes that still rely on it, for those who want to enjoy a different flying experience. Two wings produce more lift than one and that matters a lot in the early stages of aviation, when the structure of the plane was very different than what we can see today in modern airplanes.
A better look at framed biplane prints, will reveal the fact that usually the lower wing is the one attached to the fuselage. The 2nd wing is simply attached to the other using cabane struts and features no flaps, as they are attached to the lower wing. For a short while, there were even aircrafts with three wings which were supposed to serve the purpose of destroying zeppelins, but they failed to reach their potential.
