Framed WWII Art
The deadliest war in human history, the Second World War was truly a conflict of global magnitude and it involved in excess of 100 million people scattered over more than 30 countries. Half of the participants died and the widespread death of civilians made this conflict qualify for the term of total war.
FramedArt.com has an impressive assembly of framed World War II posters meant to raise awareness of the catastrophic damage inflicted by this conflict and the long-lasting consequences.
The thin line between civilians and military was erased during the work and atrocities were committed on all fronts by most of the participants. It all started with Germany declaring war on Poland and the intervention of United Kingdom and France, with the work quickly spreading all over Europe. Despite the initial agreements between Germany and Russia and the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, the archrivals went at each other’s throats in 1941. Framed World War II posters highlight the moment when Operation Barbarossa started, as the German military began its offensive against Russia.
The bloodiest battles took place in Europe, but conflict spread to Africa, Asia and the Pacific, where the United States and Japan squared off. The battles for the Western Pacific islands are featured in framed World War II posters, with these art prints also celebrating the most important American victories. State-of-the-art technology, battleships and airplanes were used on this front and in the end the Allies utterly destroyed the Japanese Navy. It all culminated with Japan’s surrender on August 15, 1945.
