The team was founded back in 1946 and is one of the few franchises to have survived the first decade, while setting up a bitter rivalry with the Los Angeles Lakers. The two teams have won most of the championships and met 12 times in the final act of the playoffs, with Boston being by far the more successful side. The fans of the franchise pay their respects to be Russell, Larry Bird, Dave Collins and Bob Cousey through framed Boston Celtics posters. These four players managed to win the MVP award 10 times and they were more than a match for most opponents when they played for Boston.

The 90s were not great years for the Celtics but after a mediocre decade, they returned to their winning ways, courtesy of Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen.
