Framed Church Artwork
Establishing a link with divinity has been a constant concern for people and churches are the places where Christians go to get in communion with God. The building is used almost exclusively for religious activities but the worship services can also be performed by other religions. FramedArt.com has assembled an entire collection of Framed Church Art featuring some of the most beautiful structures of this type, which are bound to appeal to both religious people and art lovers.
Churches have a distinguishable architecture, with the dominant form being the one of the Christian cross and the altar is the cornerstone of the structures. Framed Church Art highlight the beauty of the domes and towers that are frequently added, as they inspire people by emphasizing the link between these places of worship and divinity. Over the course of time, they have served not only as a place where people could come together and pray, but also safe havens.
The vast majority of the buildings celebrated in Framed Church Art were constructed particularly for this purpose, but other structures were converted for church use. Some of the earliest churches were built almost 2000 years ago, with their number increasing dramatically in the 11th century and the trend continued for 300 years. Cathedrals are more imposing than regular churches and can host considerably more people, but the smaller parishes have their unmistakable charm. Thousands of them are scattered all over Europe, with slight differences between the Roman Catholic, Orthodox and Anglican churches.
