Framed Ballroom Dance Artwork
Ballroom dance is a set of dance, designed for two, to be used during competitions, or just for fun. The intimacy and the fun of this type of dancing is recognized all over the world- that’s why all cultures have always had some sort of paired dances. Why not celebrate this by taking a look at someframed ballroom dance paintings?
Ballroom dancing as we have come to know it, is usually the western form. Many western artists have therefore taken up this dance as their subjects in the form of framed ballroom dance art. Scottish artist Jack Vetteriano, has made many pieces on this topic- some of his notable ones are “The Singing Butler”, “Dance Me to the End of Love” and “Waltzers”. Though his art has usually been described as mysterious and melancholic, there is no mystery here- he is simply depicting all the emotions of a bond have through the medium of paint in the form of art.
Pierre-Auguste Renoir, the revered French impressionist artist, should not be forgotten. He has made various framed ballroom dance fine art. His work includes “Dance at Bougival”, “Dance in the City”, and “Dance in the Country”. All these pieces depict a different couple, in different social classes, all enjoying a ballroom dance in their respective environments.
More framed ballroom dance pictures are found in the collections of Karen Dupre, who painted “Avec Moi V”, “Ballroom Belles”. Another more show time like quality of the ballroom dance is expressed through “Dancers I” (Blue) by Zambon. “El Morocco”, taken in 1955 is a striking photograph- it speaks of the bygone, hushed elegance of the nineteen fifties.
