Sergio Zaniboni (Born on August 4, 1937) was born and raised in Turin, Italy. He is an Italian comics artist and writer. Zaniboni is one of the most important artists and one of the most respected creators in Italian comics that have worked on the Diabolik series. He started working in comics in 1967 after working as a radio technician for some years. He had also worked as a graphic artist, illustrator and technical draughtsman (he’s the one who created the historic Panini stickers logo). His first comics work was drawn for the publisher of Alè Toro. It was the adaptation of The Three Musketeers, but it was never published. He started working on the Horror magazine after drawing the I promessi sposi adaptation for Gino Sansoni. He became a member of the Diabolik art staff in 1969, debuting the episode Crime on Commission (Delitto su commissione). Since then he has pencilled more than 300 adventures, and is currently still drawing for the series. Starting 1972, he collaborated on Il Giornalino which his art on the boxing series II was featured - The Champion (campione), scripted by Alberto Ongaro. He also collaborated on a crime series Lieutenant Marlo (Tenente Marlo) that was scripted by Claudio Nizzi. Zaniboni also became an artist for the magazine Orient Express for the series I Reporters in the 1970s. His art has received positive reviews from many critics, and that’s why framed Sergio Zaniboni art are much sought after by many collectors; both private and corporate.
