Roger Williams was born in Southern Colorado, just a stone’s throw from Santa Fe and Taos and near the New Mexico border. This area, surrounded by pristine high desert and mountains, enticed Williams at a young age to start appreciating beauty, light and form. He attended Adams State College schools of art and the University of Denver and completed his masters’ degree. He taught for two years at college level before deciding to pursue his dream of becoming a professional artist. He moved to Santa Fe NM in 1986 to fulfill his dreams. In Santa Fe, Williams’ studies and associations with artists like Bettina Steinke, Richard Schmid, Clark Hulings, Joseph Mendoza, and others, enforced and stimulated his conviction to continue painting. He encountered a plethora of opportunities to study with and befriend master painters from all over. Williams has exhibited in more than 21 solo shows and has featured in many exhibitions in museums and galleries in France, the USA, and Mexico. Williams’ paintings tell the story of where he is going and where he has been as an artist and as a person. His pieces of artwork are a creation of scenes taken from the beautiful, inspiring, and colorful places he holds dear to his heart including the Southwest where he works and lives. He has painted on location in over thirty countries in four different continents and is always on the lookout for inspiring subject for each canvas. Many of his impressionistic paintings are landscapes. Framed Roger Williams art are valuable for the feeling they convey to the viewers.
