Welby (1879 – 1927) was a renowned London illustrator and painter of her century. She came from a family of artists. Her sister Ethel Welby was an artist and a teacher. She had an amazing ability to capture the unique beauty, essence as well as the personality of her subjects which were mainly flowers. She worked at Minton’s Art Pottery Studio and later decided to work on her own. Welby felt a strong need to experience art as a means of expression. She always loved art in all of its forms and expressions, and she experimented with many different techniques and forms until she finally found her own way with painting. All her artwork promises to delight and inspire all new artists and all those who view them. In all the solo and group art exhibitions where she participated, her pieces of artwork featured prominently. Her work is represented by several galleries and is part of many corporate and private collections. Her images have been published on posters, calendars, greeting cards, and stationery around the world. Welby’s works have been exhibited in several countries, and her work can be found in many private and public institutions. She had many exhibitions, some of which she did in groups while in others he did alone. She exhibited at the Royal Academy, the Grosvenor Gallery, and the Royal Society of British Artists, at the New Watercolor Society. Several of her pieces are in high demand especially the framed ready to mount Welby art.
