Sondra Wampler’s work first got displayed in public at the Oakland Museum when she was only 9 years. Her parents supported her to go through the traditional art training to help her grow her painting skills. In 1982, Sondra completed a Commercial Photography Program from the Santa Monica College. With the skills in photography and passion for drawing fine art, she had enough skills to start her career. Her unique use of photography and painting has seen her artwork get more recognition all over the world. For the last 30 years, Sondra has used photography as a way to create her artwork. Starting from 1995, she has focused on botanicals as her subject, giving an insight to some of the overlooked specimens in the world. She has managed to engage her audience by creating artwork that speaks to them. Her pictures are supposed to highlight the different botanical lives and why people should preserve them. The absence of color in her artwork makes it easy for the strong sculptural form to come out clearly based on light settings. She uses the large format film cameras to capture every little detail of her subjects. Sondra has worked as a judge in different events to help mentor other young people who are looking to grow their skills. She juried at events such as Best in Show, Utah Arts Festival in 2014. She has also won a number of awards such as Graphis Photo Annual 2005, and Graphis Flora I in 2002. Currently, many of her works can be found in diverse galleries across the globe with a number of them selling framed Sondra Wampler art ready for installation. They can also be found in several other finishing options, allowing customers to choose which ones would work best for them.
