Lorraine Vail is a California-based artist who has been very active in this industry for many years. She describes her process of art production as being similar to dreaming saying that often the idea will form in her mind, and she doesn’t immediately know the meaning or significance behind it. But as she transfers that vision into material form that she begins to understand what it’s about. She usually transfers this vision by sketching it out on paper. She says it’s like recalling a dream and suddenly realizing what it was all about. Lorraine holds a bachelor of fine arts degree in Illustration from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. After graduation, she worked as a freelance sculptor and illustrator primarily in Philadelphia and New York. In all her pieces of artwork, she leaves the interpretation to the viewer, no matter what her ideas or intentions may be, in the end it is upon the viewer to interpret the meaning of a piece for himself or herself. She considers her work to be perfect when the viewer can connect with it. Lorraine has been honored with numerous of group and solo exhibitions and her works have appeared in a variety of venues from museums and galleries to universities and corporations. Lorraine’s sculptures have also appeared in exhibits at Temple University, PA. She distributes her art mainly as framed Lorraine Vail art and also in online stores. Her work is found in a number of private and public collections in California as well as abroad, where several distinguished hotels have installed her sculptures and fountains.
