Born in New York City, Albert Swayhoover studied art at Farmingdale on Long Island at the New York College, and in New York City, at the School of Visual Arts. Dividing his time between a successful career in advertising and painting, Swayhoove has been working successfully for many years. The demand for canvases increased steadily and in 1966, he decided to leave advertising and devoted himself fully to painting. He has had many successful solo shows in leading galleries across America. Due to the quality of his work, he has received more than 27 awards, including the Solomon R. Guggenheim Award in New York given by the Salmagundi Club. Some of his paintings hang in corporate collections of Raymond James, Chase, IBM, CBS, and many others. They also hang in important private collections. His work has been on magazine covers and in museum shows. His works are sold all over the world and are being shown in European Galleries. His posters are very popular and for more than 4 decades, he has been creating paintings with the intention of capturing the total experience of nature and with a focus on achieving unique textural imagery and superb technique. His art is availed mainly as framed Albert Swayhoover art, though other finishing options are also available. Forsaking the traditional brushes, the artist is committed to using the painting knife, and a series of knives. He also strives for structured composition that are beautiful and with modulating of impastos and subtle shifts of color to create on canvas an immediate environmental experience.
