Michael Swanson is a self-taught award-winning artist who was born in Mecklenburg, Germany but is currently based in Canada. Swanson tries to select subjects that he considers challenging. He works from his century home studio where he produces a limited number of original oils each year that are commissioned or bought by serious private collectors, with most remaining works sold through galleries. He prefers to use oils on canvas and his favorite pastime is painting landscapes, particularly of the Mediterranean region of Europe which many great artists before him have also chosen because of its unique ambience and light quality. His dramatic and vivid style was inspired by many renowned artists. Swanson’s paintings are quite captivating and truly reflect the beauty of nature.
