David R. Stoecklein is a photographer who has been intrigued with the cowboy way of life and the great American West since his childhood in Pittsburgh, PA. He has been a top stock and commercial photographer for more than 25 years. His assignments are varied and he travels worldwide to pick the best scenes for his viewers. Stoecklein is renowned for his color photography posters, prints and art which capture the customs, culture and working traditions of the contemporary cowboy. Stoecklein is also an enthusiastic collector of Western cowboy collectibles and a serious rancher. He lives and works in Wood River Valley in Idaho with his family. By photographing modern cowboys working and wearing authentic gear in motion and in color of the open range, his posters, prints and art have a texture and dimension which the black-and-white vintage photographs cannot match. When not working in his studio or out on assignment, the artist has documented both the Idaho cowboy past and present as well as the rugged landscape. He specializes in photographing both serene wilderness and dramatic action, using a 35mm camera for flexibility in the field.
