Dawn Stacey has lived in Lewes in East Sussex for more than two decades. She’s a full time artist who paints in her studio from home. Where she lives, there’s a rich and varied population of wildlife including the Railway Lands. This is a local nature reserve where she walks her dogs everyday. This reserve includes herons, mallards, pond life, swans and moorhens within its landscape. Mist, Reflections on the water, golden light, cracked ice or frozen leaves, may bring up ideas for a painting while she’s out walking her dogs and absorbing the surroundings and atmosphere. She holds a Master of Arts degree in Illustration from Brighton University and also studied Textile Design. She has painted professionally for close to 30 years; and has exhibited in London, Devon, Cornwall and Hampshire, with galleries such as New Ashgate Gallery, White Space Art, Wills Art Warehouse, Josie Eastwood Fine Art, and various Affordable Art Fairs. Tapestry is her passion together with decorative frescoes and old and worn walls which are suggestive of her paintings that include acrylic paint in many layers. In her painting process, the textured or decorative surfaces that emerge include detailed imagery from nature of perhaps insects, butterflies, flowers or birds. And she intends the final piece to conjure up a vision of a dreamlike, mysterious landscape which she does by expressing an essence of a place. Framed Dawn Stacey art is a testimony to her dedication. They are highly priced by many discriminating collectors because they are attractive and durable, meaning they can be used for decorative purposes for a lifetime.
