David Spencer (Born 1974) lives and works in Fremantle, Western Australia but was born in Dampier, Western Australia. He references urban life in many of his paintings. He does the same with the modern industrial world, while recognizing nature’s surprise and beauty. Spencer is egged on by change and pushing boundaries. Spencer’s art has been published in Complete Homes Magazine, Augusta-Margaret River Times, Broadsheet Magazine, Box Magazine, Augusta-Margaret River Mail, Artabase, Australian Art Magazine, Community News, Academy For Men Magazine, Australian Art Collector, to name just a few. He delights in mistakes and exhaustion of recurrence. He loves the power and statement in simple compositions put side by side with areas of layering and detail. He says that it’s when all these elements of art are brought together that he feels his paintings to be successful and only then does he feel like an artist. He’s been a practicing fine artist for more than a decade and has exhibited nationally. Among the places he has exhibited in include Hay Shed Hill, Margaret River, Buratti Fine Art, Gallows Gallery, Mosman Park, Fremantle, Brunswick Street Gallery, United Galleries, Perth, United Galleries, Sydney, 19Karen Gallery, Gold Coast, Moores Contemporary Gallery, Fremantle, TCS Gallery, Melbourne, Temple of the Muse, Northbridge, Studio 2, Central Park One, Leederville, FORM, Victoria Park, Chippendale, and Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, Nedlands, among others. His art is found in numerous private and public collections including Victor Smorgon Collection, Central College of Tafe, Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital Collection, Ronald McDonald House, and various private collections worldwide. Framed David Spencer art has become a common feature in many art stores.
