Mike Sleeper’s photography is a dynamic exploration of the inter-relationship between sky, water and land. His images capture salt mash moments before a storm, the ocean just minutes before sunrise, the beach just before a spring squall or sand dunes in snow. He began making photographs at the early age of 13. A graduate of Boston College, Sleeper has been collaborating with FOCUS GALLERY owner and friend Cindy Vallino on large format prints of his photography. Photography has made him to travel worldwide to serve numerous corporate clients. He lately turned his attention to more personal work, and Sleep now concentrates primarily on portraiture and landscapes. His portfolio exhibits a wide range of fine art photography. His first solo gallery exhibit was titled “Three Miles From Home” and it was hung at his local library. The title was an accurate description of the locations where he made those photographs and it is generally also true of his newest work. Sleeper draws my inspiration from the 19th and 20th century landscape artists, ranging from Winslow Homers watercolors and The Hudson River School paintings. With his imagery, he tries to completely explore a certain place to find it's essence, and as his technique evolves, so do the styles of his photographs. Framed Mike Sleeper art is currently sought after by many galleries. His work reveals much about his instincts and personality, therefore the images are not just pictures of places or things, and he makes them to be reflections of his experiences on location and how these places affect him. He works exclusively with film and does not employ post process techniques to enhance the original images.
