Vero Shaw love art from his childhood. At a tender age, he began sketching, drawing and painting very attractive images that caught the attention of many observers. He particularly loved animals, more so the dogs. He could be seen drawing, painting and sketching images of dogs on any surface that was available. As he came of age, he began to produce wonderful portraits of dogs which he set against the British countryside. He also did dog portraits for 'Book of The Dog", the famous published in the late 1800s by Cassell in London. His work included the first color illustrations of many breeds, such as the Retriever, Bedlington Terrier, Basset Hounds Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Dandie Dinmont Terrier, Dachshund, Irish Terrier, Yorkshire Terrier, Italian Greyhound, Irish Water Spaniel, Pug, and Fox Terrier. Once his work came to the attention of the public, he began working professionally, and started to receive commissions and freelance work from those who loved animals. The last part of the 19th century was the time when magnificent chromolithographs were being produced in England and his images are excellent examples of the process. Shaw left behind hundreds of pieces of art that today adorn the walls of many building around the world. He also left behind hundreds if not thousands of fans found in all corners of the world. Surprisingly, his fan-base is still expanding. The framed Vero Shaw art are easily recognizable among the works of other artists. This is because he used a unique style. His illustrations are some of the finest pictures of dogs.
