Cyndi Schick grew up in Montclair, New Jersey. She got interested in art at a young age and was inspired by the encouragements by her friends. Cyndi began studying art seriously with oil painting and watercolors while she was still in high school. She was influenced by the beautiful architecture, art and excitement of the city. Cyndi developed her own unique technique in painting. Her pieces are known for their contrast of texture. She mainly develops them from direct observation. Cyndi joined the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and obtained a B.S. degree in Economics, with a minor in Studio Art. All her paintings display a wonderful understanding of color, simplicity of application, and a delicacy of touch.
Cyndi studied oil painting and art history in Paris for three years under Professor Chris Boicos, an art historian from the Sorbonne in Paris, and Professor Nina, an artist with an MFA from The National Academy of Fine Arts of Bulgaria. Those who collect ready to mount framed Cyndi Schick art often do so because of the quality of stillness and peace in her work. She combines her love of both oil painting and photography. None of her pieces are exactly the same since she hand paints each of them individually. All the pieces are actual black-and-white photographs that have been hand painted in limited edition series. Cyndi uses oil paint, pastels, or color pencil depending on the paper used. Her art is influenced by both Modern and Impressionism. She relies on natural or minimal lighting and avoids elaborate set ups to produce a candid style of photography.
