Arthur Sarnoff (December 30, 1912 – July 31, 2000) was an American painter and illustrator whose artwork captured Americana and whimsical themes. He produced his works of arts mainly during the 1930s. Sarnoff’s paintings and illustrations carried with them unmistakably distinctive whimsicality and fine detail on the American culture, folklore and artifacts. He did not tie himself to a single area, but rather, Sarnoff captured a vast array of subjects including commercial products, sports, celebrity figures, domestic life, and more. Born right in the heart of Brooklyn in New York, USA, Arthur Sarnoff took his training at the Industrial School, later studying at the Grand Central Art School. He passed through the hands of Andrew Wyeth, a visual artist, and John Clymer, a painter and an illustrator, both whom inspired him and influenced him to culture a reputation in fine arts. Sarnoff earned the Society of Illustrators’ membership due to his constant involvement in related activities and his artistic prowess. His works of art have been exhibited and sold in numerous galleries both locally and internationally. One of these includes the US National Academy of Design. Sarnoff made a name for himself by creating advertising campaign artworks for various products such as Listerine, Sal Hepatica and Dextrose, as well as doing illustrations for several periodicals. "The Hustler", produced in the mid 20th century, is one of Sarnoff’s masterpieces; the work featured among the highest selling artworks in the 50s. His other paintings of great renown include the Pin-Up-girls posters and "Jack the Ripper". Sarnoff also did paintings of public figures including President John F. Kennedy and his wife, and comedian Bob Hope. To this date, his artistic works can still be found in diverse galleries across the globe. Whether one wants laminated, canvas, or framed Arthur Sarnoff art, they can be found ready for installation.
