Carlos Sánchez (Born 1961) is a Venezuelan artist known for his distinct visual style of art that incorporates both excitement and humor. He says that skilled craftsmanship has been a great enticement for him in his own artistic taste, ranking high together with content, composition and form. His keenness to detail makes him produce art that are easily recognizable. This is more so for the framed Carlos Sánchez art. He’s part voyeur and part philosopher and provides his viewers with paintings that they can cherish for a lifetime. He draws inspiration from his understanding of culture and art history, and is able to explore themes of psychology, religious iconography and identity. He gets his inspiration from simple things and likes to take thing that are very simple and make something stunning out of them. All these simple things are fodder for his eye-popping artwork. He reinterprets these ideas through a contemporary lens. Through this style, three motifs emerge: the horse, Christ, and Las Maninas. Some of his outstanding projects include Dreaming Gods, Nothing Grows Under Venezuela, The Weather God, Contemplation, Circus Project II and III, Sun Horse, Moon Horse, and Curfew For A Shadow. Sánchez is a member of many professional art societies and his art is available in many galleries in a variety of finishing options. He attended the School of Fine Arts of the Louvre in Paris where he studied the restoration of cloth and paper in 1979. He also studied at the Institute of Heritage Conservation Mexico City.
