Charles Rucker (Born 1931) was born in Wasco, Kern County, California, USA. He was one of the Rucker clan’s patriarchs. He inspired his family and gave them his zest for life, support and artistic guidance. Rucker’s home always provided a happy place for the family and friends to gather. He provided a strong foundation to those under his guidance and possessed endless energy for people. He served a 4-year term in the United States Air Force to the rank of Staff Sergeant. He studied at San Diego City College where he earned AS/AA degree; he also earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from San Diego State University and a Teaching Credential from UCLA. For seventeen years Rucker served on the San Diego Police Department as an officer, an Assistant to the Chief of Police for Community Relations. Here he also worked as a composite artist. Upon his retirement from the police department, he got on staff at Southwestern College teaching Administration of Justice. He also served as President of the Faculty Senate during this time and retired in 1991after twenty years of teaching. His accomplishments are many and yet it seems that he always had time for the youth. In fact most of his time was spent teaching children’s' workshops. He also served on the juvenile Justice Commission. His art is spread all over the world. They can be found mainly as framed Charles Rucker art. He had many Art Shows in the U.S. as well as in Mexico and Japan. He was married to Julia Logan Elizabeth for 47 years, and they had three children; Clark Damon, Scott Anthony and Kim Leann.
