Nussbaumer discovered his love of photography at age 17. In 2003, after marrying a Texan, he moved to central Texas and is now working as a full-time photographer. His photographs have appeared in numerous magazines including Ranger Rick, National Wildlife, Wild Bird, National Geographic Traveler, Birds and Blooms, Texas Highways, Bird Watcher's Digest, Texas Parks & Wildlife, Birder's World, Turkey Call, Rio Grande Valley Nature and Texas Monthly. His credits include calendars published by Terrell Creative, Barnes & Noble, Shearson Publishing and Reiman Publications. Nussbaumer’s photographs have also been published by Defenders of Wildlife, the Sierra Club, and many other publications in Europe and United States including annual reports, brochures, and textbooks. He enjoys photographing nature, and is focusing primarily on mammals, birds, landscapes and flowers. Nussbaumer’s personal mission is to help his viewers experience nature through his photography. Growing up, he spent much time outdoors with his brother. They loved going on nature hikes and that’s when Nussbaumer learned as much as he could about his native surroundings: about habitat, bird calls, tracks, flora and fauna, etc. Framed Rolf Nussbaumer art currently adorn the walls of many prestigious buildings around the world. Nussbaumer has won many awards and he says that wherever he goes, he researches the native life first, and he adds that that’s the best nature photo tip he can offer to upcoming photographers.
