Elise Remender Art

Elise Remender (Born 1977) is an artist from Phoenix, Arizona. She majored in background painting for animation and children’s book illustration at the San Francisco Academy of Art, but her heart remained in painting. As a little girl, her idea of a great gift was art supplies and she has fond memories of her mother taking her to the art supply store. Because of Elise’s training in children’s illustration, she has a background in realism that is tightly rendered. She feels that the architecture, green environment, and culture that surround her in abundance enrich her life, which then is translated into her paintings. She paints still life paintings, beautiful landscapes, and flowers, and believes the beauty of the area where she lives artistically inspires her. Elise says that realism has too many rules so she paints abstract paintings and finds a release in them. She developed a unique style of abstract art that is both imaginative and emotional. Elise’s most recent figurative works were inspired by the timeless beauty and elegance of mid-century beach culture and scenes. These scenes capture the attitudes enduring and style of the fashions of the 1940s and 1950s. Sparkling water and colorful beach umbrellas are carefully rendered in minimalistic spaces. She has established a style that is dazzling in light, rich in color and filled with emotion. Combining the texture and emotion of an abstract background with the warmth of realism, she is constantly exploring new techniques in her work and as a result, it is continually evolving.
