Claire Pavlik Purgus works with the Hornstein Program as the Program Manager. She took that role in January 2015. Her duty is to manage the financials of the program in line with Brandeis University financial systems, recruitment, communications, and alumni relations, and event organization and planning. From 2008 to 2014, she worked at Brandeis University and also worked for the Schuster Institute for Investigative Journalism. Prior to that, she worked as a managing editor and contributing writer for Soco Magazine. From 2004 to 2006, she worked as a technical writer for Hewlett-Packard Company. Claire has also consulted on projects for Liberty Asia and The Mekong Club, based in Hong Kong, and for Cambridge International, based in Tokyo. She also worked for the Apeiron Institute for Sustainable Living in Providence, Rhode Island, Lexia Learning in Concord, Massachusetts, among others. Claire is also a co-founding member of “Breaking the Links”, a nonprofit anti-slavery organization. Claire lived in Mauritius between 1988 and 2003 (an island in the Indian Ocean). There she worked in the field of industrial plastics packaging and was a registered architect. Claire studied at the University College London from where he obtained a post-graduate diploma in Urban Planning Practice for Developing Countries. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University. Claire paints in her spare time. Framed Claire Pavlik Purgus and the reproductions of her work are available through many art stores. Her art has been widely distributed in many stores around the country. Clair has exhibited her art through art galleries, open studios events, and juried exhibitions.
