Peter Potter Art

Peter Potter was born in Massachusetts but moved to Mississippi as a child after the divorce of his parents. He remembers being inclined to the arts even as a young child in Massachusetts. As he was growing up, he always wanted to be an artist. He attended the University of Southern Mississippi where he majored in art. In the course of his studies, he switched his major to library science so he could graduate sooner. Upon graduation, he got a job at the university’s library. He also continued with his education and earned a Master’s degree in library science which this enabled him to teach at the college level. Potter spent most of his life far from home. He lived in many different places and also traveled extensively for some of his jobs. Once he worked as a territory sales manager for a New Jersey-based printing equipment company and this made him to travel throughout the entire Southeast. The travels provided with a lot of inspiration and subject matter. He also met and interacted with many people including professional artists. This was a great motivation since he managed to learn a lot from these people. Finally he decided to settle down in Concord and continued with his work in art. Marine themes are his favorite to paint in watercolors which is his preferred medium. Many art stores have ready to hang framed Peter Potter art because their demand is high. Potter never had much in the way of formal training. He says he never had any art instruction except for a few classes, and these classes he attended when he was in grade school.
