Erika Pochybova Art

Born in former Czechoslovakia, Erika Pochybova moved to Texas in 1996, and after 10 years, she became a U.S. citizen. She’s an artist whose work utilizes a sophisticated painting style and allegorical imagery to make statement on everyday life. Her inimitable style blends old European art with contemporary aesthetics. She likes to portray symbols, characters, and natural experiences that coexist in a world of harmony, peace, and mutual consolation. The artist tries to remind her viewers of the wonder when encountering something beautiful or new. Her process is developed improvisationally and instinctively as she works. She’s a self-taught artist who creates visionary images by collapsing the 3D realm into a 2D curtain of color spots. These are intended to send the eye of the viewer in pursuit of the enigmatic. In 2012 while she was in Lubbock, TX, the University Medical Center at that place chose her to paint two large, public art commissions. The project was very successful and it led to more commissions. Her paintings have been included in more than 35 exhibitions nationally. Her imagery varies widely and includes many flowers, animals, abstraction and landscapes. She’s managed to attract clients from far and wide and her art is gaining popularity. In fact, framed Erika Pochybova art hang on the walls of many galleries and homes around the globe. She’s inspired by life in general, but more so by nature. She has participated in group shows in Dallas, Chicago, Alexandria, Austin, New York, Houston, Minneapolis, Beverly Hills, Nacogdoches, Sacramento, Lubbock and Galveston.
