Sharon Pitts Art

Painting is Sharon Pitts’ language. She was born in Chicago, Illinois. With paper, brush and watercolor, she looks to see the mystery in the literal. Sharon cuts open a large navel fruit, and before her appears sunburst pieces with flickers of light coming to life with the color of the paint and water. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Plastic and Graphic Arts. She graduated from The University of Illinois, Chicago and has also studied at Montclair State University, the Barnes Foundation and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. Sharon sees beauty in everything, even the bark of a tree impresses her – with its vertical channels, endless overlapping segments and molten textures. She sees colors of purples, grays, browns and pinks in the barks of the trees through an artistic eye. Sharon is fascinated with the graduations of light and dark, the flow of color in water, the play of patterns, and what is felt and suggested rather than the literal. Sharon is listed in “Who’s Who in American Art”.  She lives in the metropolitan New York area and is an avid traveler and reader and hosts watercolor workshops in Croatia, Italy and France. Her art is in the collections of Widener University Museum of Art, Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Commission for CBS, Inc., Senior Care and Activities Center, Montclair, NJ, Colgate-Palmolive Corporation, Daiichi Sankyo Inc., Kallmann, Gennet, Robinson and Antin, Pfizer, Inc., and Due Process Stables Golf Course.
