Jacob Abraham Camille Pissarro (July 10, 1830 – November 13, 1903), known mainly as Camille Pissarro, was a respected painter who created his artwork in the impressionist and neo-impressionist style. He's a known contributor to both artistic styles, helping to shape and introduce many aspiring artists to the styles. Pissarro did this alongside other artist friends such as Edgar Degas and Claude Monet. He learned from notable artists such as Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot and Gustave Courbet. Although he was born in St. Thomas, then in the Danish West Indies, he later moved to France when he was 12 years old for his education. While there he became more appreciative of the works of French art masters, inspiring him on in his art making. At some point, he took a career in business, but he still never stopped painting or drawing during his free time. This enabled him to sharpen his artistic skills even further. Pissarro traveled to Venezuela in 1852 and returned to Paris in 1855 and started working with Monet and Cezanne, sharing several things in common. Their works weren't embraced by notable players in the French art industry. This saw their works rejected by Salon exhibitions. Instead of losing hope, they were inspired to start a Salon-like exhibition, holding the inaugural one in 1874. This baffled many art critics and put the artists in the limelight. It marked the beginning of a strong surge towards refining impressionism. In the 1880s, he jumped to post-impressionism, a move that led to a slowdown in impressionism style. Pissarro’s creative works are available in museums, galleries, and collections, both corporate and private. Several framed Camille Pissarro art pieces can be found in galleries and art dealerships across the nation.
