Joel Christopher Payne (Born 1971) is an artist from California. His dreams of pursuing a fine art career began in earnest in 2011. With influence and inspiration from his entertainment pedigree and Disney, he embarked on a career that would last for 22 years. He didn’t have any formal artistic training; he had to forge through the fires of experience on the job. Today, he has a new found dedication and energy for “Believable Fantasy”, his inventive new form of mixed media artwork, a hybrid of traditional oil painting techniques and 3 dimensional modeling. The Disney and Disneyland feature animation ignited a lifelong passion in Payne that led him to inspire others through his own style of breakthrough art. His original painting technique creates a level of color, depth, detail and lighting that has collectors asking how he achieved them. Taking cues from artists like Thomas Kinkade and Norman Rockwell, Payne blurs the line between the fantastic and real. When asked about his latest works of art Payne said that every painting that he does, he wants to have the word “WOW” to be the thing the viewer expresses most. This is because this is what he felt about Disneyland as a little boy. He wants viewers to walk by his artwork and fall into it and live in it. This is why he began creating the type of magic he’s currently creating. To make illusions as believable as possible is what he desires so that he can inspire others to live the magic Walt created in his life. He has achieved this goal through the framed Joel Christopher Payne art.
