Rachel Paxton Art

Rachel Paxton (Born in 1959) received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Rhode Island School of Design. She also holds a Masters of Fine Arts degree from the School of The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Her paintings incorporate spirituality to explore the universal rhythms of life, and also incorporate archetypes of nature. Her art reveals the fleeting past while reminding the viewer to fully experience the always transitory present moment. Her art uncovers memory, our reflections on the cycle of life, the passage of time and they depict an idyllic mystical world. She uses images of butterflies, birds, fruit, flowers, frogs and bugs floating in a patterned multi-layered abstract background. Her work has been exhibited at many museums and galleries there, including the Zoe Gallery, the Alpha Gallery, the DeCordova Museum, the Fuller Museum, the Institute of Contemporary Art, the Fitchburg Art Museum, the Rose Art Museum, and many others. She has exhibited her paintings at Kathryn Markel Fine Arts in New York City, in Florida in Naples at Longstreth/Goldberg Art Gallery and in Sarasota at the Allyn Gallup Gallery. She taught drawing and painting at Humbolt State University, Rhode Island School of Design, Monserrate Collage of Art, Emerson Collage, the Art Institute of Boston, and the University of Massachusetts. These exhibitions have made her art to be very popular, more so the ready to hang framed Rachel Paxton art. Rachel paints in acrylic on canvas and also does mixed media collages with materials such as rice papers, nautical maps, sheet music, linoleum block prints, and gravestone rubbings.
