Michael Parkes (Born 1944) studied painting and graphic art at the University of Kansas and then traveled for 3 years through Europe and Asia. He settled in Spain in 1975 and that’s where he lives to date. What is unusual about him is that in his images spiritual and metaphysical elements are joined into reality. Parkes’ works evoke a mysterious atmosphere, which can often only be deciphered with the help of eastern philosophy and ancient mythology. He is the leading Magical Realist in the world. Throughout his career, numerous international exhibitions underline the importance of his work. He is both a uniquely talented painter and master of the art of original stone lithography. Parkes is a stone lithographer, a painter, and a sculptor. His over 30 years of success as a fine artist stand out in the art world.
