Kim Parker is a native of New York. She was drawn to working with vivid colors and textile designs and painting flowers at an early age. She could easily spend hours at her desk creating patterns in a numerous color combinations with her box of paints or can of magic markers. However, since she came from a family of musicians by eight years old, she was already serious about studying the flute. She joined Oberlin Conservatory of Music where she earned a degree in Flute Performance. Kim later decided to pursue a career in design even though she had no formal design education. What she was not aware of during all of those years of serious devotion to her instrument, was the rich foundation that would become a springboard for her work in design. She now understands the years she dedicated to music, found their way into the tonalities and rhythms of her work. She experimented in posters, textiles and prints in her New York City studio. She now creates a variety of collections and products that can enhance the beauty of any home. She began selling her hand-painted silk textiles in 1995, but she didn’t create a cohesive collection or a personal brand until six years later. In 2001, she launched a label featuring her style of floral design on products such as giftware, housewares, designer rugs, bedding, tableware, wallpaper, bath, decorative pillows, fabrics, wall art, stationery and many more. Framed Kim Parker art is currently very popular with the world’s leading collectors.
