Laura Nugent holds a degree in painting from the Maryland Institute College of Art. The artist makes her home and studio near Kansas City. She travels widely to exhibit her work. Among the places she has exhibited her works include Campanella Gallery - Park University, Lowe Mill Art Center, Dundee Gallery, Shirley Stiles Gallery, Irene B. French Art Gallery, and Arts Council of Metropolitan Kansas City, to name just a few. Laura creates painterly, non-representational works featuring fresh color and imperfect pattern relationships. She paints with many layers of acrylic and finishes with a gloss varnish or matte. Her art is in many collections around the world, some selected corporate collections where her art is found include Four Seasons Hotel, Chicago, Grand Hyatt, San Antonio, St. Anthony Hospital, Lakewood, St. Lukes Hospital, Overland Park, Coldwell-Banker, Corporate Woods, Black and Veatch, Overland Park, Robertson Law Group, Kansas City, and Pinnacle Bank, Nashville. Upon close inspection of her art, one can see her hand-painted, unsteady lines and the splashes of paint which she had allowed to remain where they fell. Her surfaces are constructed out of the history he has collected in her studio: canvas or wood covered with older abandoned works on a plaster-like medium and on paper. She’s represented by Weinberger Fine Art, Kansas City, The Late Show, Kansas City, The Arts Company, Nashville, and Roan and Black, Saugatuck. The artist has exhibited at among others.
