Steven Mitchell Art

Steve Mitchell is a design artist based in St. Petersburg, Florida. He holds a BFA in set design and an MFA from Cal Arts and USF respectively. He also had a summer intensive at the Kennedy Center with Ming Cho Lee. He’s currently working as a freelance designer, and has undertaken several projects including the design of “In The Heights” “The Rocky Horror Show”, “Spring Awakening” “Twelfth Night”, “The Odd Couple”, “The Men”, “Man of La Mancha”, “Cabaret”, “Jekyll & Hyde”, and “Radio Golf.” Some of the designs he does on his own while other he has done together with other artists such as Eric Davis of freeFall Theatre, Kelly Woodland, director at Venice Theatre, Julia Flood of Eckerd Theatre Company, and Bob Devin Jones director at Studio 620. His 20-year career spans themed entertainment, the theatre, television and film. His art has won many awards and he’s currently sought after by many clients. Other clients that Mitchell has designed sets for include Nickelodeon Studios, Universal Creative (Shanghai and Florida parks), and Walt Disney Entertainment. He has also taught Scene Painting and Scenic Design at the University of South Florida as a Temporary Professor and at The College of William and Mary. He has also worked in two feature films as art director and illustrator, and has worked for many corporate event companies in New York.
