Joan Miró i Ferrà (20 April 1893 – 25 December 1983) was a Spanish painter whose art comprised of abstractness and surrealist fantasy. He had a well refined artistic style that stemmed from his borderless fancy and poetic abilities. Miro’s lithography works saw him produce several tapestries, sculptures, and murals. He received commercial training in line with the wishes of his parents after which he landed a job as a clerk. Things weren't working out for him emotionally and physically, compelling his parents to consider his desire to study art. As a result, they allowed him to follow his passion for art. Miro’s art was influenced by Van Gogh and, shortly thereafter, Picasso. His interaction with Picasso influenced him into cubism for a short stint. Even that didn’t mark the last time he tried out a new style. In 1925, he went into realism. Miro’s understanding of different styles enabled him to create a new artistic language that portrayed the world in a very unique way. The works of Kandinsky, Klee, and Arp also provided him with different ideas that helped him develop a new language comprised of varying signs, imaginations, and visions. The signs he used also included elements from ancient times and a level of naivety that defined his signature works. Interestingly, Miro’s works have also been a great influence on many artists. The kind of quality and influence that his works carried put him among 20th century’s top ranked artists. There remains no doubt that his iconography provides a strong link between abstract and figurative imagery. Joan Miro framed art prints are on sale through different platforms. His art is also in both private and public collections across the globe.
