Maria Mendez (Born in early 1970s) is entirely a self taught artist who was born and brought up on one of the smaller islands of the Caribbean. Maria began collecting natural specimens, including ferns leaves, flowers and corals at a very young age and, over time, has established a business creating and designing attractive presentations of these natural objects and selling them to visitors to her island and to those building houses in the Caribbean and beyond. She is married with two children. Her love of art is something that is inborn, and she takes painting as a hobby. Maria continues to follow her artistic tendencies producing an array of delightful high quality etchings and many fine originals on canvas. That’s what triggers her originality. Not only does she have exceptional painting skills, her printmaking expertise sees service on a variety of etching editions. Maria is always looking at different methods of creating and presenting images so that the final products are not only unique and attractive but also inspiring. She paints flowers predominantly but also creates some exciting abstract pieces as well. She has been a tremendous source of inspiration to many upcoming artists in Caribbean and the whole world. Maria likes media exploration and she is a keen observer of all aspects of nature. She also has a bold and happy personality that helps her to undertake very complex projects. Maria transmits her feelings through her art work. She visits many museums, galleries and exhibitions.
