George Meis Art

George Meis is a photographer who’s known worldwide for his attractive photos that capture memorable moments. For five years he was occupied with fashion photography, creating Meis studio - this was after he had studied photography/cinema in Paris - he then became involved with presenting and publishing a series of postcards featuring tourism promotion. He got involved in photography while he was studying to be an electrician but his inclination was towards photography. In 1973, he could no longer hide his passion to involve his life around photography. So he went to Paris where he widened his range and his views of photographic experience. His work has been accepted in the International Fine Art Fair where one would find works of great artists but relatively few photographers. His themes are taken from Continental Greece and Greek islands and have created international interest. His prints are also published in poster size. His panoramic photos are considered Avant –Garde; they are a result of a lifetime of research. Meis’ presence can be seen at International Fairs in Birmingham, Sydney, Atlanta and New York, and the only participation of Greece in the field of Fine Art. His album Land of Crete has met great success though it was just published recently. Land of Crete is one of the first in the world and is the first panoramic album to be published in Greece. Meis walks the length and breadth of the Greek isles with cameras in hand. He seeks out the inconsequential details, the hidden corners of everyday life.
