Shawn Meharg (Born in 1967) was born in Southern Ontario. He worked as a designer and theatrical scenic artist in many spheres of the entertainment industry and began his voyage as an artist in 2001. It is his hope that his viewers will sense a compulsion to illuminate those darkened conundrum pieces of their own personal history. Meharg worked in the entertainment industry for fifteen years. In this industry, he as a scenic artist and designer, but his focus changed to fine art in 2001. For that reason, his work shows a diversity of subject and style, all involving the absorption and reflection of light. He does this by doing some subtle changes in the physical characteristics or context of an otherwise simple subject. The artist aspires to elevate subject to symbol and his work is rendered with primary focus on physical change in the fullness of time, which may occur in a rapid moment or over many years, calling upon both an often precarious future and an imagined past. Meharg studied at the University of Mississippi, and he resides in Orange Park, Florida. He has exhibited at Stellers Gallery, Ponte Vedra Beach, Williams Cornelius Gallery, Jacksonville, Waterwheel Art Gallery, Fernandina Beach, Art in Embassies United States Dept. of State, and Belushi Pisano Gallery, Martha's Vineyard, among others. He has been exhibiting at Stellers Gallery since beginning his career as a fine artist. Ready to hang framed Shawn Meharg art are highly priced by many discerning collectors. The making of artwork is what helps in recalling forgotten moments of his past.
