Darlene McElroy Art

Darlene McElroy trained as an illustrator and painter at Cal State University Fullerton. After her training in the fine arts, she added graphics, design and illustration skills at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA. Her richly textured mixed media paintings reflect the vision of an artist whose involvement with human’s primal origins, religious conflicts and sins has developed imagery at once startlingly sophisticated and sensuously primitive. Weaving through rich symbolism, found objects, and textural surfaces, her viewers are drawn into a visual world where color plays the role of an impressive veil that encompasses the personal myths of the artist. Darlene is descended from a New Mexico family of storytellers and artists. She has been deeply influenced by the time she spent growing up in Santa Fe on her family’s ranch where the rich drapery of Hispanic life filled the brightly colored the days and the nights. Darlene’s exhibition record began in the early 1990s in Newport Beach, CA and the Bay area. Since then, she’s had numerous group and solo exhibitions. Among her reminiscent show titles are Beneath the Temple, Odd Thoughts, Stigmata, Scattered, Lost Thoughts and Ancient Cultures, Novellas, and Modern Myths. In 2010, she received the Best of Show award and she still serves as a CHM board volunteer. Her work is represented at Muse Gallery, Columbus, OH, and La Posada in Santa Fe, NM. Her art, especially the framed Darlene McElroy art has been well received in the market, and are found in many prestigious establishments all over the world.
