Cheryl Martin Art

Artist Cheryl Martin loved art from a young age. She used to draw and paint whenever she had any free time. She is a native of Minnesota but she moved to Arizona in 1989 where the rugged beauty of the desert and the unique landscapes provides her with a continuous source of inspiration for many of her paintings. Her work has a deceptively simple style which develops into a more demanding and complex sense of authenticity. Cheryl’s paintings capture the essence of herself and all that she has observed in Minnesota and Arizona. She paints what she feels and displays her feelings on board or on the canvas in the form of games of positive and negative space and uncalculated marks. She studied at Nebraska Wesleyan University where she received her BA in art and an AA in Graphic Design. She is always on the lookout for new styles or techniques and enjoys the discoveries made in each of her new painting. She gets fascinated by layers of transparent color that peek out beneath other layers. Her paintings symbolize a curiosity of the delicate connections of shapes and colors in the natural world. Hundreds of framed Cheryl Martin art can be found with many collectors around the world. They can also be found in many private and public institutions. Cheryl participates regularly in art festivals and events in Arizona and also collaborates with local galleries. Much of Cheryl’s work conveys a sense of childlike innocence and simplicity. She concentrates on her technique to obtain the best prints.
