Stanton Manolakas (Born 1946) was born in Detroit, Michigan. He has loved art since his childhood. He would spend much of his time drawing and painting using any material he could lay his fingers on. He was lucky to be born an artistic family. His father was an architectural draughtsman and an artist, while his mother was a very competent artist. Manolakas’ style essentially combines that of his father and his mother. He borrows his father’s knowledge of urbanity and his mother’s artistic skill. His art mainly features street scenes and cityscapes. His art was more strongly influenced by his father's work and the images and the romance of Michigan City, especially in winter. Framed Stanton Manolakas art are found in the collections of Datum Inc, Marriott Hotels, TCH Industries, Wolverine Bronze, and the private collections of Henry DuPont, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Tarbell, Steven Bechtel, and Bernard Horowitz. Even though he’s now a renowned artist, his first love was music. Manolakas is classically trained at the University of California, Thornton School of Music, and the Eastman School of Music. He didn’t begin his career in painting until the early 1980s. He began by painting exclusively in watercolor. Five years into his career, he began to sell his work in galleries. Today, his prints are distributed through Art Boom Ltd. Editions and other affiliates, and his work is licensed by Applejack Art Partners. All editions he offers for sale are signed and numbered. His art is found in many prestigious galleries, museums, and institutions in Michigan and beyond.
