Lee Foster is an award-winning artist who was originally from the Pacific Northwest. She’s drawn to nature and the outdoors. Her body of work has been recognized by Women Painters of Washington and The Northwest Watercolor Society and they have included her as a signature member. She has also been given signature membership status by the Florida Watercolor Society. Now, she has moved to Florida, with a new landscape she takes in and learns new things. She’s also taken up learning golf on a regular basis. Always new things will influence her work. As she becomes aware of her impact on the world, windows are opening to help her more clearly see where she’s been and where she wants to go. This is what has been giving her the strength to create artwork from her experiences and her journey. “Threads of History” is one of her new series that’s actually history as viewed through her mother’s and grandmother’s generations. While gardening, ski instructing and sailing in the Pacific Northwest for more than 3 decades, she has nurtured a close relationship with art. She has also become aware of her family history, and she realizes how much it is part of her life. Her own life is opening windows that help her to see and create work from these experiences. She does plein-air painting and takes photographs while in her backyard, on her sailboat, or atop local mountains. A number of her original paintings have received awards from national and international art exhibitions, and she’s been a featured artist at many solo shows, museums, art galleries, and web sites throughout the US.
