Steve Leal Art

Steve Leal (Born 1962) is a self-taught artist who was born and raised in Venice, California. He was greatly influenced by those who surrounded him, starting artwork at an early age. He visited many of the local museums and also got the opportunity to meet many of the artists in his home area. Leal also got involved with the local artists and this allowed him to gain more experience, and to learn from their influences. He was first published when he was 21, by a prominent publishing company. In 1989 and 1990 Leal produced illustrations of pop stars in excess of 180. These were used as backdrops for the American Music Awards. Leal believes that art is about connecting. He says that art connects us to our community and families, to our past and future, and opens us up to possibility and opportunity. Leal is open to new ideas. This was a way for him to learn the different techniques, and to come up with his own style in creation. Diversified, explorative, creative, and passionate about his work, Leal continues to cultivate the surroundings of those who embrace his work. He has held many one man shows throughout the world and has continued to print numerous limited editions of his works. He also varies the subject matter of his art to increase their marketability since this makes them to always remain fresh and attractive.
