Joseph LaPierre (Born in 1945) was born in New Hampshire. He received his formal art education at the Boston Museum School of Art and the New England School of Art. LaPierre was a veteran of the Vietnam era, so he painted murals for the United States Army. In the 1970s and 1980s, while continuing to develop his skills, he worked as an art director for corporations in New Hampshire, California, Florida and New Jersey. During that time he also performed as a singer songwriter. LaPierre said that to be an artist is to always be willing to learn. That’s why he was always on the lookout for the new trends, techniques and styles that he could borrow to help improve his own work. Working with Acrylic paint and a palette knife kept his paintings very bright and loose. This also added to the lighthearted, cheerful and optimistic feelings of the everyday life portrayed in his artwork. LaPierre won many awards and much critical acclaim. LaPierre died in 2009 and his wife and children continue to reproduce his artwork, on both canvas and paper, and they continue to participate in selected art festivals where LaPierre was a major presence. Paintings and treasured memories continue to give pleasure and comfort to those who knew him and who own a piece of him through his art. People who have bought his art have enjoyed the person of LaPierre as much as the artwork that he created. His paintings, the framed Joseph LaPierre art, hang in private collections, galleries, government buildings and corporate offices.
