Francois Langlois (Born 1589) was born in Chartres. He’s counted among the best artists of his time and his art is still a source of inspiration to many upcoming artists, several years after his death. Langlois died on 14th January, 1647 in Paris. He participated in many art shows and exhibitions which helped in honing his skill and popularizing his art. He was a bookseller, engraver, painter, printer, art dealer and publisher, best known for Book of Flowers (Livre de Fleurs), his 1620 book which was like a collection of birds, garden flowers, and insects. Today, framed Francois Langlois art adorns the walls of many prestigious buildings around the world. They are also found on the walls of museums and many public places. Langlois art is also found in many online stores. He used to run a workshop in Paris from where he sold and turned out engraved prints. His art sell in large numbers today and they are regarded by many collectors as their most valuable assets. Langlois designed the title page for his book and had the botanical plates engraved by Gaultier Léonard, a German expert who also resided in Paris. Francois loved art and he could not imagine doing something different. Most of the times he could be found doing works of art or reading art books, especially those dealing with botany. In writing his book, he was inspired by other leading artists such as Barthélémy Gaultier, Claude Savary and Jean Le Clerc who edited the book.
