Michael King Art

Michael King is the past vice president and past president of the Fraser Valley - a chapter of the Federation of Canadian Artists. He’s a community member of Port Coquitlam, where he works with community organizations and civic agencies on city planning and arts related projects. He is also an associate member of the Oil painters of America and the founder of PleinAirBC.com. Currently based in British Columbia, King works primarily as an oil painter and is known for modern still lifes, soft plein air landscapes, and portraiture. He’s also an enthusiastic instructor, and in his workshops, he teaches design and painting in an accessible and straightforward manner. His workshops have been very successful because his philosophy is based on scientific fundamentals of observation, anatomy and perception, along with principles of art that are time proven. He enjoys how shadow, color temperature and light form the fundamental elements of a scene with his goal of blending Impressionistic with representation aesthetics. His work appears in private and public collections throughout the United States and Canada, and he has won awards in a variety of competitions and exhibitions. He got his formal education in Industrial Design from Carleton University in Ottawa, and his career in product design influences his approach to fine art. His art has found its way into many prestigious buildings in British Columbia. The framed Michael King art are highly priced by many discriminating collectors.
