Sung Kim was born in Seoul, South Korea, in 1975. He began to exhibit his artistic talents at an early age. Just beginning in grade school, she entered and won many art contests by displaying his artistic and creativity imagination. His strong desire to become a professional artist and his passion for arts made him to decide to pursue art and he graduated with honors from Seorabol Art College in Seoul. He later opened his own studio where he worked as an illustrator for various children’s books and magazines.
The Minister of Culture in South Korea acknowledged Kim’s artistic abilities and awarded him the Grand Prize in an art competition. He was also awarded the Gold Medal prize in the art competition by the Mayor of Seoul. Kim likes travelling. He traveled throughout Europe before he immigrated to the US in 1980. He has produced over 400 original landscape paintings and has worked with various fine art galleries for the last 20 years. His paintings have been reviewed well by the viewers and they can be found in many institutions throughout the world.
Kim’s artwork has been featured at the Haus der Kunst in Munich, Germany, at the Queens Museum in New York, and at the Center for Contemporary Art in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. He takes part in both solo and group exhibitions. In 2012, the Tate Museum hosted an exhibition for his work in its Tank’s Modern Gallery.
