Christine Kerrick sees her art as a way to communicate to her viewers through the assemblage of typography, as well as 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional elements. She’s fascinated by paper and objects that are used only for a moment and then discarded or put aside. Born and raised in West Chester, Pennsylvania, Christine loved art from her childhood. Painting and Drawing came naturally to her and she couldn't imagine working in any other field, so she joined the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, from where she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Illustration. In her work, she takes paper and other objects and makes new, beautiful pieces of art out of them, like what God does with our lives. She hopes people will identify with her stories, or those of others she has portrayed, and find joy, comfort and inspiration in them. She spent her early career as a graphic designer and in the course of her work she learned typography, color separation for fabric printing, print production, and the design software that she used to take a project from concept to finished book, print or other products. Her use of varied drawing techniques is able to provide a pleasant variety of elements, as Christine tears up old drawings and uses them in her collage paintings; she sets or drafts typography for the piece, because typography provides a pretty pattern in addition to its narrative qualities.
