Joseph Bradley’s art and home have featured on some of the extremely popular websites. He has been super excited about this because it has given his fans a chance to see his home and how he likes to put art together in a room. When he’s not working, he likes to spend time with family and friends. Bradley lives in Greenville but spends summers in Charleston. He’s a contemporary and abstract artist whose work is on display at Atrium Art Gallery. Most of his subject matters center on nature. He grew up in South Carolina and took many hunting trips with his father, spending a great deal of time learning and observing nature. The theme seemed to work best with what he was trying to communicate to his viewers through artwork. As for materials, his internship was spent with an art restorer from whom he learned the process of metal leafing. This technique was mainly used for frame restoration but slowly it started getting into his work. He was very interested in mixed-media painting at the time and says that his style has been a journey, and he doesn’t believe he’ll ever find his niche because he keeps moving forward exploring new mediums and exploring new techniques. Currently, he begins his paintings on wood panel with graphite, and then adds washes, oil paint, metal-leaf and glazes. This brings out a somewhat decorative and flat effect, yet upon closer look, he works in dimensionality to produce a nice tension. Framed Joseph Bradley art has become a common sight in many prestigious buildings.
