Born and raised in Waterloo, Ontario, Karin Johannesson has been painting and drawing all her life. She’s happy that her studio allows her the freedom and flexibility to paint whenever she has a free moment. Her day involves great measures in multi-tasking and time management. Karin is a self-trained artist who’s guided by instinct and she uses mediums in unconventional and bold ways. Her preferred medium is watercolor. She’s very comfortable working in this medium because of its ease of use and versatility. Karin is happy about the renewed popularity of watercolor in today’s art world. She loves to paint in many styles, for the most part in watercolor and also in acrylic ink. Karin’s process is intuitive and spontaneous and she likes to work quickly so as to complete her paintings in one or two sittings. Her audience has expanded so rapidly that framed Karin Johannesson art can be found in almost all corners of the world. They come ready to hang with all the necessary accessories. Her art is also available in many online stores. She’s exhibited at Art Investment Fund Sale, Kitchener, Canada (Ontario), Spring Watercolor Exhibit, The Button Factory, Waterloo, Canada (Ontario), Tower Hill Botanic Garden, Contemporary Watercolor Competition 2013, Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery, Artcetera 2013, Elora, Ontario, Canada, Royal Watercolor Society, Bankside Gallery, London, UK, and Waterloo Community Arts Centre, just to name a few. She comes from a family of watercolor artists, and she’s inspired by the artistic talents of her sons who have taken after her.
